Since the beginning of 2025, the emergency gas service in the Kharkiv region has responded to more than 3.2 thousand requests by calling 104. Most of the emergency calls concerned in-house gas networks. The Kharkiv branch of Gazmerezh recommends that its customers follow safety rules when using gas.

  • When operating gas appliances, ensure a constant flow of fresh air for complete combustion of natural gas and to prevent the accumulation of carbon monoxide (open a window or a vent).
  • When turning on gas appliances, first light a match and only then open the gas supply.
  • Ensure annual professional maintenance of your home's gas networks and gas appliances.
  • Check the draft in the smoke and ventilation ducts before turning on and during operation of gas appliances. Remember the danger of carbon monoxide poisoning!
  • Do not cover gas appliances and gas pipelines with foreign objects or furniture, and ensure their visual inspection.
  • Do not leave turned-on gas appliances unattended, except those designed for continuous operation and equipped with appropriate automation.
  • Do not use faulty gas appliances.
  • It is prohibited to carry out unauthorized installation, replacement and repair of gas equipment, or to make changes to the design of gas appliances.
  • If you need to install or replace appliances, contact specialists; do not trust your life to people from the street.
  • Do not use the electric hood in rooms where gas boilers and columns with an open combustion chamber are operating.
  • Do not use gas appliances for purposes other than their intended purpose, including stoves for heating an apartment.
  • Do not use rooms where gas appliances are installed for sleeping or resting.

If you smell gas indoors:

  • Immediately turn off gas appliances, close the gas pipeline valve and gas supply valves to gas equipment;
  • Open windows and doors, create a draft to ventilate the rooms;
  • Remove people from the gassed and adjacent rooms, leave the room;
  • Call the gas emergency service by phone 104 and be sure to follow the dispatcher's instructions.
  • Be careful - prevent sparks, as this can cause the gas to ignite and explode.
  • Never use matches, lighters or other sources of open flame.
  • Do not turn lights or any electrical appliances on or off.
  • Do not use electric apartment bells and landline phones!
