
Born on May 29, 2000 in the city of Chuguev. Studied in the city of Chuguev at secondary school No. 7.

He was drafted into the Armed Forces of Ukraine on 04.08.2020 by the Chuguiv RVC and sent for training to the 507th separate training repair and restoration battalion (training school A1317) as a specialist in the operation and repair of armored vehicles. After training, he was sent to the 92nd separate mechanized brigade, where he signed a contract in October 2020. He was later transferred to the 53rd separate mechanized brigade named after Prince Volodymyr Monomakh. He served as a driver-tanker of the automobile department for the delivery of fuel and lubricants of the material support platoon of the 1st mechanized battalion of the 53rd separate mechanized brigade named after Prince Volodymyr Monomakh (training school A0536).

Circumstances of disappearance:
On March 13, 2022, active hostilities began in the territory of the settlement of Nikolske, using small arms, artillery, and automobile and armored vehicles.
Later, a group of servicemen decided to leave the position. Private Yavtushenko decided to stay in position to provide cover fire with a machine gun, and conducted aimed fire towards the positions of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. With his actions, Denis did not allow the enemy to approach the position.

The sergeant and soldiers of military unit A0536 witnessed an event in which, between 10:00 and 16:30, an artillery shell fired by Russian troops hit the location of soldier Yavtushenko, resulting in the soldier dying from a non-life-threatening wound.
The body of the serviceman was not evacuated from the scene due to active hostilities. Therefore, the burial place remains unknown.
