Born on November 26, 1977 in the city of Nizhyn, Chernihiv region, into a family of workers. Later, his parents moved to the city of Pripyat, where at that time a large-scale construction project was underway. In 1984, Andriy went to the 1st grade of a school in the city of Pripyat, but the tragedy of 1986, when the Chernobyl accident occurred, forced the family to move to the city of Kharkiv.

Already in the city of Kharkiv, he graduated from the 8th grade of the 155th comprehensive school, and then in 1997 - from vocational school No. 53, having received the specialty "3rd category carpenter", but the difficult 90s forced Andriy to work where he could earn money for food. For some time he worked as a road worker at the Chuguyivskyi Rayavtodor branch of the State Enterprise Kharkivskyi Oblavtodor, at the communal enterprise Chuguyivskyi Communal Complex as a loader on the Sanochistka site, as a road worker at LLC Design and Construction Enterprise Skhid and at the State Enterprise Plant Elektrovazhmash.

Andriy had the status of a victim of the Chernobyl accident, a displaced person from the Chernobyl zone, and therefore did not serve in the military.

In 2006, the family moved to a permanent place of residence in the city of Chuguiv. Andriy continued to work in the private sector. Being in the Chernobyl accident zone negatively affected the health of the entire family, including Andriy. After his father's death, he was responsible for taking care of his mother, who was constantly ill and had the status of a victim of the Chernobyl accident. As his mother says: "Andriy was a very inquisitive, intelligent and cheerful boy, he tried to read a lot, he was an active reader of the Chuguiv library. He knew the history of Ukraine very well. For his "sunny" appearance, his friends called him "Red Cat".".

Due to his health, Andriy had a deferment from mobilization, he was often seriously ill. On 12/21/2025, he and his mother visited the hospital because he was feeling unwell. During Andriy's visit to the hospital, representatives of the Industrial CCC and the Joint Venture of the city of Kharkiv, who were at that time in the city of Chuguiv, having checked his documents, suggested that Andriy go to the city of Kharkiv and undergo a medical examination. There he was recognized as fit for military service and received a mobilization order and sent to perform work on equipping fortifications in the Kupyansk direction, and after taking the Military Oath, he was sent to the training center of the 116th separate mechanized brigade.

Circumstances of death:

While in the suburbs of Lviv, at the training center of the 116th separate mechanized brigade, Andriy felt sick and was urgently sent to the medical institution of the KNP "1st territorial association of the city of Lviv" VP "Hospital of St. Panteleimon". On January 21, 2026, Andriy died in the hospital. The diagnosis was "Brain infarction".

Throughout his military service, Andriy called his mother every day, and she began to worry because there had been no news from her son for several days. After some time, the mother learned that Andriy had been in serious condition for six days. She immediately left for the city of Lviv, but did not see her son alive.

Andriy Tkach was buried on January 29, 2026 in the city of Chuguiv on the Alley of Memory.

Andriy is survived by his mother, younger sister, and niece.
