BARAKOVSKYYH Yevhen Volodymyrovych (call sign Barik)

Born on 07.06.1976 in the village of Pravda (now Slobidske) of Pervomaisky district of Kharkiv region. In 1992 he graduated from Pravda secondary school of Pervomaisky district. After graduating from school he studied at Dniprodzerzhynsk technical school of physical education, where he obtained the profession of a physical education teacher.

After graduating from technical school in 1995, he worked for five years as a physical education teacher at Kharkiv School No. 109. Over time, he decided to try his hand at construction. He worked on construction sites and did repair work.

In 2010, his life changed and he moved to the city of Chuguiv, which became his home. Here he worked as a watchman at the Chuguiv Agrarian Lyceum during the absence of key employees, and since 2018 - as a security guard at DARS-D LLC. After the liquidation of this company, since 2023 he has been engaged in repair work and was a very good craftsman - he could do any job. As his relatives recall, in his free time, Yevhen liked to solve crossword puzzles, play with his grandchildren, and help children with construction and repair.

He was called up for military service upon mobilization on October 21, 2025 by the Chuguyiv RTCC and the Joint Service of the Kharkiv Region and on October 22, 2025, he was enlisted in the 60th Separate Mechanized Ingulets Brigade of the 3rd Army Corps (military unit A1962) as a sniper of the 1st mechanized detachment of the 1st mechanized platoon of the 1st mechanized company of the 1st mechanized battalion. In 2025 and early 2026, the brigade performed combat missions in the Lyman direction.

Circumstances of death:

According to operational information, as of January 11, 2026, the situation in the Lymansky direction remained tense, the Defense Forces repelled about 10-15 enemy assault actions. The enemy does not give up attempts to storm the advanced positions of our military, he is constantly improving and looking for new ways to inflict damage. The enemy attacked Ukrainian positions in the directions of the settlements of Drobysheve, Stavky, Cherneshchyna, Novosergiyevka, Ozerne. The unit, where Yevhen Barakovsky was performing a combat mission, occupied combat positions in the area of the settlement of Drobysheve, Kramatorsk district, Donetsk region. During another enemy drone attack on the unit's positions, Yevhen Barakovsky received a wound from an FPV drone, incompatible with life.

The serviceman was buried as a Hero in his native village of Slobidsky, Lozov district, Kharkiv region on January 21, 2026. Relatives, friends, fellow villagers, comrades-in-arms, clergy, government representatives, and caring community residents came to see Yevhen off on his last journey.

The deceased soldier is survived by his mother, sister, son, and two grandchildren. Friends and colleagues with whom he worked remain in the city of Chuguiv.

The brothers remember Yevhen as a good, reliable comrade, a hardworking and strong-spirited person: "He was a man with a golden heart and golden hands, a brave defender of Ukraine, a man with a difficult fate. Yevhen Volodymyrovych set an example of a true patriot, an example of courage and bravery. He honestly and completely fulfilled his duty as a soldier and citizen, giving his priceless life for a free future in Independent, God-blessed Ukraine.".
