Circumstances of death

On January 23, 2025, units of the 225th separate assault regiment participated in combat operations in the area of the settlement of Dar'ino, Sudzhansky district, Kursk region. The situation here was critical and extremely dynamic. The enemy used a significant number of armored vehicles and infantry. The settlement was not completely lost at that time, but was under intense pressure from superior enemy forces. At about 8.15, an FPV drone struck the positions where Fedor Omelchenko was located. Fedor received injuries incompatible with life, but due to the fact that over time the positions of our defenders were captured by the enemy, his body remained on enemy territory. Since then, he has been registered as missing. His relatives were notified about this on 01/25/2025.

For more than a year, relatives waited for news and believed that he was alive. On July 18, 2025, in accordance with the Procedure for the Transfer and Repatriation of Bodies of the Deceased, the bodies and remains of Ukrainian defenders were returned to Ukraine, which were delivered to the State Specialized Institution "Poltava Regional Bureau of Forensic Medical Examination". On April 20, 2026, according to the conclusion of the molecular genetic examination, one of the bodies belonged to Fedor Mykolayovych Omelchenko.
