With the onset of significant warming, residents of the Kharkiv region began to go out into nature more often, however, power lines, which are dangerous to life, are often located near reservoirs, forests, and other recreation areas.
JSC "Kharkivoblenergo" reminded residents how to behave near such structures so as not to expose themselves and others to the risk of electric shock.
Experts note that the safety zone around power lines is 10 to 20 meters on both sides. This should be taken into account when choosing a place to relax.
But it's not just touching wires and other parts of lines that poses a threat to human life. You can get an electric shock from high-voltage networks without even touching them.
«"Imagine a situation where a 1.7-meter-tall fisherman walks under wires, the distance from which to the ground is 7 meters, and carries a 6-meter-long fishing rod on his shoulder. Even if the fishing rod does not touch the wires, there is a risk of electric shock to the fisherman. In addition, modern fishing rods are made of carbon fiber, which conducts electricity very well. Therefore, walking with a fishing rod under power lines is the same as walking with a metal rod," they gave the example of the energy industry.
Also, kites cannot be flown near power lines, because the thread can be made with the addition of metal fibers or from the same carbon fiber, which conducts electricity well. Therefore, the population was urged to follow the rules and choose places for recreation away from power lines.
