DEMYDENKO Vadym Leonidovych

Born on September 30, 1972 in Ulaanbaatar (Mongolia) into a military family. He has lived with his parents in Chuguiv since 1974. He studied at secondary school No. 8 and Klugyno-Bashkyrivskaya secondary school. After graduating from school, he served in the military service, and then remained to serve in the extended military service. In 1995, he graduated from the Kharkiv Higher Military School of the Rear of the National Guard of Ukraine.

He later served in command positions in the 92nd Separate Mechanized Brigade. His last position was as the chief of staff of the battalion of the 92nd Separate Mechanized Brigade.

Надалі проходив службу у складі 92-ї окремої механізованої бригади на командних посадах. Останнє місце служби – начальник штабу батальйону 92-ї окремої механізованої бригади.

In 2004, he participated in a peacekeeping mission in Iraq.

Father: Demidenko Leonid Fedorovich, colonel, died in 2008.

Mother: Demidenko Lyubov Grigorivna, lives in the city of Chuguiv.

Brother: Demydenko Igor Leonidovich, military pensioner, lives in the city of Chuguiv.

Wife: Demidenko Inna Anatoliivna, lives in Chuguiv.

Son: Demydenko Maksym Vadymovich, born in 1994, lives in the city of Chuguiv.

Circumstances of death:

On September 14, 2014, Captain V. Demydenko, together with Captain I. Antoshyn, conducted reconnaissance of the surrounding area near the city of Shchastya (now Novoaydarskyi district), Luhansk region. There they came across an enemy mine ambush - they were blown up on a "trench" in a forest strip. As a result of the explosion, both officers died on the spot.

14 вересня 2014 року капітан В. Демиденко разом з капітаном І. Антошиним проводили розвідку прилеглої території в районі міста Щастя (нині Новоайдарського району) Луганської області. Там же потрапили на ворожу мінну засаду – підірвалися на «розтяжці» в лісосмузі. Внаслідок вибуху обидва офіцера загинули на місці.

Place of burial: village of Kluhyno-Bashkyrivka, Chuhuyiv City Council, Kharkiv region.

His portrait is placed on the memorial "Wall of Memory of Those Who Fell for Ukraine" in Kyiv: section 4, row 5, seat 27.

By Decree of the President of Ukraine No. 282/2015 of May 23, 2015, "For personal courage and high professionalism shown in the defense of state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, loyalty to the military oath," he was awarded the Order of Bohdan Khmelnytsky, III degree (posthumously).
