
Born on October 27, 1966 in the village of Murafa, Krasnokutsky district, Kharkiv region. During 2001-2006 he lived in the city of Chuguiv. In 1983 he graduated from secondary school No. 14 in the city of Karlo-Libknekhtovsk, Donetsk region (now the city of Soledar).
From April 1985 to August 1986, he served as a gunner. In 1986, he entered the Kazan Higher Red Banner Tank Command School. After graduating from the school in 1990, he served in personnel service in command positions until 2006.
In 2000, he completed a 3-month retraining and advanced training course for officers at the Odessa Institute of the Land Forces, majoring in "Combat Use and Management of Certain Units (Parts, Formations) of the Land Forces." At the end of his military service, he was the head of the training ground team of the 92nd Mechanized Brigade.
In 2006, he retired from the Armed Forces of Ukraine and was in the reserve until 2016. All this time, he worked in Artemivsk.

In 2016, he voluntarily, through the Lysychansky OTCK and the Joint Service of Donetsk region, was again called up to serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Since then, he has served in the 54th separate mechanized brigade named after Hetman Ivan Mazepa as the head of the armored logistics and armament service of the brigade. He participated in the ATO and the Joint Forces Operation. In 2017, he received the status of a participant in hostilities. From the first days of the full-scale war, he, together with his brothers, worthily defended the Motherland.

Son: Grechko Oleksandr Volodymyrovych, born in 1997, military serviceman;
Son: Mykyta Serhiyovych Hryshchenko, born in 2007, lives in Poltava.
Circumstances of death:
In April 2024, Serhiy's health deteriorated, but he was treated and returned to service. Despite a serious illness, he defended the land from invaders until the last. The defender's heart stopped on August 1, 2024. He died in the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Clinical Hospital named after I.I. Mechnikov. Serhiy Hryshchenko was buried on August 3, 2024 in Chuhuiv on the Alley of Memory.


Awarded all degrees of the President of Ukraine's Order of Merit - the Medal "For Impeccable Service", in 2016 he was awarded the Order of the President of Ukraine "For Participation in the Anti-Terrorist Operation" (Decree No. 53/2015 of February 17, 2016), in 2023 he was awarded the badge of the Minister of Defense of Ukraine "For Exemplary Service" (Order No. 586 of May 17, 2023).

According to the Decree of the President of Ukraine No. 91/2025 "On Awarding State Awards of Ukraine", for personal courage shown in protecting the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, selfless performance of military duty, Serhiy Mykhailovych GRYSCHCHENKO was awarded the medal "For Military Service to Ukraine" (posthumously).
