According to the latest WHO forecasts, if the rate of cancer incidence continues to increase, by 2030 the number of people diagnosed with cancer for the first time will increase by 771% and reach 35 million.
As the Ministry of Health emphasizes, 401% of cancer cases can be prevented by simple everyday actions, and its early detection significantly increases the chances of successful treatment. For this purpose, Ukraine has a medical guarantee program that covers the most important examinations and laboratory tests for cancer detection and treatment.
«"We are constantly working to expand the list of high-quality, affordable and free services for cancer patients. To do this, among other things, we regularly increase the amount of innovative medical equipment necessary for treatment and diagnostics. Linear accelerators, diagnostic equipment, tomographs, MRI machines, mammographs are purchased with state funds. Detecting cancer in the early stages is very important for successful treatment. "Destroy cancer plans" is our key message this year. We are actively working to ensure that access to the entire range of necessary medical services is constantly improving!" - emphasized the Minister of Health Viktor Lyashko.
The most common types of cancer in women are breast, cervical, colon, and thyroid cancer. In men, prostate, lung, colorectal, bladder, and kidney cancer.
Screening examinations are available in Ukraine to detect various types of cancer. They can be done free of charge under the medical guarantees program. In particular, mammography (breast cancer screening), PAP test (cervical cancer screening), fecal occult blood test and colonoscopy (colon cancer screening), pelvic ultrasound, dermatoscopy of atypical moles, and tests for hepatitis B and C.
This program also covers all the most important types of medical care at each stage of treatment, including: doctor consultations, laboratory and instrumental examinations, surgical removal of tumors and recovery after them, chemotherapy and radiation treatment and support in outpatient or inpatient settings, as well as medications necessary for treatment.
To prevent cancer or detect it early, be sure to visit your family doctor at least once a year, even if you have no concerns. Your doctor will tell you what preventive examinations and specialist consultations you need based on your age and health, and will refer you to them if necessary.
