Vaccination by profession is important, especially for those who often come into contact with a large number of people. The need for vaccination by profession is determined by the Order of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine No. 595 dated September 16, 2011 and is due to several factors, including the risks of infection in the workplace, the potential consequences for the health of the employee, and the possibility of transmitting infections to other people.
Medical workers For their own health and to prevent the transmission of infections to patients and colleagues, it is mandatory to be vaccinated against influenza, COVID-19, hepatitis B, chickenpox (who have not had it before) and in some cases - against measles, mumps and rubella. Healthcare workers who work with children and pregnant women must be vaccinated against pertussis.
Education workers have constant contact with a large number of children who may have weak immunity and be carriers of infections. To prevent outbreaks of diseases in educational institutions and protect their own health, they are vaccinated against influenza, COVID-19, and chickenpox (who have not had it before).
Workers of public catering and food industry enterprises, water supply networks To prevent the spread of infections among the population, vaccinations are being given against influenza, COVID-19, and viral hepatitis A.
Service workers, Those who, due to the specifics of their professional activities, may have contact with human biological fluids (hairdressers, beauty salon staff, massage therapists, etc.) and interact with a large number of people every day, must be vaccinated against influenza, COVID-19, and viral hepatitis B.
Military are at high risk of infection while serving in the field, including overseas missions in countries with high rates of certain infections. To prevent disease outbreaks in military units, it is necessary to get vaccinated against diphtheria, tetanus, influenza, viral hepatitis A, B, meningococcal infection, and COVID-19.
Travelers and employees of international organizations are at increased risk when traveling to different countries and should be protected against specific infections characteristic of a certain region. They are vaccinated according to the requirements of the destination country (e.g. yellow fever, typhoid, hepatitis A, tularemia, KU fever).
Workers who come into contact with animals (veterinarians, farm workers) are subject to vaccination against rabies, brucellosis, and tularemia, depending on their profession, as well as against anthrax if they work in regions where there is a risk of infection, in order to prevent diseases.
In addition, in accordance with the Law of Ukraine "On Protection of the Population from Infectious Diseases" and the Calendar of Preventive Vaccinations approved by Order of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine No. 595, vaccination against diphtheria and tetanus is mandatory and prescribed to all adults regardless of profession, with subsequent revaccination every 10 years. Such vaccinations are provided free of charge in state healthcare institutions.
