The XXVI International Repin Plein Air opened in Chuguiv

The grand opening of the 26th International Repin Online Plein Air took place in Chuguiv, which this year is held under the symbolic theme "Flowers of Slobozhanshchyna, Flowers of Ukraine: Blooming Memory.".

This year's theme of the plein air is designed to remind us that flowers are not only an adornment of our native land, but also a symbol of memory, indomitability, and rebirth. The organizers emphasized: "Flowers of Slobozhanshchyna" is, first of all, a story about people, love for their native land, strength of spirit, and life that triumphs even after the most difficult trials.

Over the years of its existence, the International Repin Plein Air has become one of the most famous art projects of Chuguiv. During this time, 341 artists from Ukraine, Poland, Germany, Lithuania, Latvia, Sweden, Finland and the People's Republic of China participated in it. Thanks to the plein air, the city's art collection was replenished with 595 works that adorn the cultural and public institutions of Chuguiv. Since 2019, the final plein air exhibitions have become mobile and are exhibited in various cities of Ukraine, popularizing the artistic heritage of the Chuguiv region.

In 2026, 27 artists from different regions of Ukraine, as well as Poland, Germany, Sweden, and the Netherlands joined the creative group of the plein air. Among the participants are Honored Artists of Ukraine, young artists, a serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, representatives of partner cities and communities that cooperate with Chuguev within the framework of humanitarian and cultural projects.

The opening of the open-air event was attended by Deputy Mayor - Manager of the Executive Committee of the Chuguiv City Council Lyudmila Makarenko. Addressing the participants, she conveyed words of greetings from the Head of the Chuguiv City Military Administration Halyna Minaeva and thanked the artists for their dedication to art, emphasizing that culture today is an important component of preserving national memory, unity and spiritual stability of the Ukrainian people.

During the opening of the open-air exhibition, the organizers introduced all the participants of the creative group and wished them inspiration, new creative achievements, and successful work on future paintings.

The grand closing of the 26th International Repin Online Plein Air and the opening of the final exhibition will take place on August 5, on Ilya Repin's birthday. The exhibition will feature new works dedicated to the beauty of Slobozhanshchyna, memory, indomitability, and love for Ukraine.
