Volodymyr Ivanovich was born on June 14, 1965 in the city of Chuguev, Kharkiv region. He studied at Chuguev secondary school No. 5. He graduated from vocational school with a degree in locksmithing. After graduating from vocational school, he worked at the Malyshev plant, assembling tanks. While serving in the military (1985-1987), he met his future wife Vita, whom he married in 1987.
After returning from the army, he worked at an aircraft factory in the city of Chuguev, then his work continued at a fuel equipment factory, and later, having moved to the city of Kurakhove, he became a private entrepreneur.
In 1988, a daughter, Kateryna, was born to the family, and in 1995, a son, Dmitry. Later, the family moved to the city of Kurakhove, Donetsk region, and when the war began in 2014, Volodymyr Ivanovich intended to go to defend his homeland, but he was refused military service.
He constantly visited the local military registration and enlistment office and expressed his indignation at each refusal, saying: «You take young people, but not me, so take me instead.» Only in 2018 was the man able to join the Armed Forces of Ukraine for contract service.
He served in the 28th separate mechanized brigade named after the Knights of the Winter Campaign as a foreman of the armored vehicle repair department of the technical support platoon of the 3rd mechanized battalion. In 2020-2021, he participated in the implementation of measures to ensure national security and defense, repel and deter the armed aggression of the Russian Federation in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, being directly in the areas and during the implementation of the specified measures in the city of Kurakhove, Maryanivskyi district, Donetsk region. According to his comrades, during his service he repeatedly saved his comrades, risking his own life, received two concussions, was treated and returned to the unit again.
After the contract expired, Volodymyr resigned and decided to devote himself to household chores. But soon, a full-scale invasion of Ukraine began.
The Stryapukhin family was forced to move to the village of Maryanivka, Novosanzharsky community, Poltava region. But Volodymyr Ivanovich could not stay away from the danger that Ukraine found itself in, and in November 2022 he volunteered to defend its sovereignty. At first, he served in the 109th separate brigade of the TRO as a service number of a mortar platoon of a mortar battery. He took an active part in the battle for Avdiivka. In 2024, he transferred to serve in the 113th separate brigade of territorial defense, which performed tasks within the operational-tactical grouping "Kharkiv" and held the position of assistant grenade launcher of the 2nd rifle division of the 3rd rifle platoon of the 3rd rifle company. His combat service during the full-scale war was associated with Toretsk and
Pokrovsky directions, namely with the settlements of Maryanivka, Mirnograd, New York.
«"Volodymyr was a wonderful husband and father, full of love for me and his children. We lived with him for 37 years. Since in recent months he was not able to call often, he sent me messages every day so that I would not worry. During his vacation, returning home to Maryanivka, he took great pleasure in doing the household chores, repairing everything, doing everything with his own hands. He took care of me too, buying pets so that I could take care of them, manage them, and grieve and worry less about him. Volodymyr had many plans for the future, he dreamed of doing the household chores after returning home, because, according to him, it brought him peace. But, unfortunately, it was not destined to happen..." - this is how Vita Volodymyrivna remembers her husband.
Circumstances of death:
In early March 2025, one of the units of the 113th separate brigade of the TRO was performing a combat mission to deter the armed aggression of the Russian Federation in the area of the city of Izyum, Kharkiv region. On March 7, 2025, during the redeployment of the unit, the car in which Volodymyr Stryapukhin was traveling had an accident. Volodymyr Stryapukhin received injuries incompatible with life.
On 17.03.2025, hundreds of people, paying tribute to the fallen hero, kneeling, met the funeral cortege in Novy Sanzhary, Rudenkivka and Maryanivka. A funeral rally in memory of the fallen soldier was held at the Maryanivka cemetery. For the last time, the fallen Volodymyr STRYAPUKHIN was given military honors at the cemetery. Senior Sergeant of the Poltava RTCC and SP Yuriy Povyakalo presented the Defender's wife with the State Flag of Ukraine, which the honor guard removed from his coffin. A three-time rifle salute was fired in honor of the soldier.
The deceased Defender is survived by his wife Vita Volodymyrivna, daughter Kateryna, and son Dmytro.
Volodymyr Stryapukhin was awarded several times during his military service. Upon completion of his military contract, he received the Order of the President of Ukraine "For Participation in the ATO".
