Born on 04.02.1977 in the urban-type settlement of Zhuravno, Zhydachiv district, Lviv region, where he spent his childhood and school years. After graduating from Zhuravno secondary school, he studied at Stryi Vocational School No. 16, and served his military service in the city of Bilyaivka, Odessa region. He was married and raised two daughters - Anna and Milana.
For over 15 years (since 2001) he lived and worked in the city of Chuguyiv, Chuguyiv district, Kharkiv region (OJSC “CHUGUYIV BREAD PLANT”) and OJSC «ChZTA».
On June 28, 2023, symbolically, on the day of the celebration of the Constitution Day of Ukraine, Vasyl signed a contract and joined the defense of Ukraine from the Russian invasion as part of the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served as a senior rifleman-
operator of the rifle section of the rifle platoon of the rifle company of the 65th Stryi Separate Territorial Defense Battalion of the 103rd Separate Territorial Defense Brigade named after Metropolitan Andriy Sheptytsky). From the first days of his service, Vasyl Leshchuk, together with his comrades, defended the lines in the Kupyansk direction, and since 2024, the unit where he served began to perform combat missions in the Sumy region to protect and defend the state border.
Circumstances of death: At the end of July 2024, Vasyl Leshchuk, together with his comrades, returned from a combat mission, where they were in a combat position for a long time, he felt unwell and was sent unconscious to the Military Medical Clinical Center of the Northern Region of the city of Kharkiv. On August 6, 2024, Vasyl Stepanovych's heart stopped beating. On this day, his parents lost their hope and support, his wife lost a loving husband, his daughters lost a caring father, and his comrades lost a loyal friend, a true warrior, a fearless, decisive, courageous, reliable comrade.
The deceased Defender is survived by his mother, father, wife, and two daughters.
The funeral service for the deceased Defender was held on August 13, and the burial ceremony was held in the village of Zhuravno on August 14, 2024. To pay the last respects to the Defender for the supreme sacrifice in the name of the Motherland, to share the terrible pain of loss together with the Warrior's family and friends, fellow villagers, friends, community leadership, clergy, brothers, leadership of the military unit, representatives of the first department of the Stryi RTCC and SP (Zhydachiv city) and community residents gathered.
During his service, Vasyl Leshchuk was repeatedly awarded. In March 2024, Vasyl was awarded the commemorative incentive badge "HONOR AND FATHERLAND".
Exactly one year later – on August 6, 2025, parents, daughter Milana, neighbors, leadership, and community representatives came to the Hero's eternal resting place to honor the bright memory of the Warrior with prayer. Father Roman consecrated the monument on the Hero's grave and served a memorial service for the repose of the fallen warrior's soul.
