FOR INFORMATION.
Rabies — is an extremely dangerous infectious disease common to humans and animals, accompanied by severe damage to the central nervous system and always ends in death.
Rabies can be prevented by following these rules:
- All citizens are required to vaccinate their dogs and cats against rabies annually. Dogs should only be kept on a leash or in enclosures. Shepherds are strictly prohibited from keeping guard dogs on pasture that are not vaccinated against rabies.
- Under no circumstances should an animal that has bitten a person or animal be killed! It should be kept isolated and observed for 10 days. This should be reported immediately to a medical and veterinary professional.
- If predators (foxes, wolves, etc.) appear near a group of farm animals and bite them, it is necessary to immediately notify the village or city mayor, veterinary and medical workers.
- It should be remembered that any wild animal that behaves unusually (approaches people, animals, or a settlement) is suspected of having rabies. Such a shot animal should not be skinned.
- Every case of unusual animal behavior (excitement, eating foreign objects) should be checked for rabies. Until the causes of the disease are determined, safety rules should be followed when providing medical care to the animal by a veterinary specialist.
- Excessive contact with animals should be avoided, especially for children.
