Police urge citizens to follow safety rules at water bodies

Summer vacations near water bodies can be dangerous, especially for children. Every year, carelessness, disregard for basic safety rules, and lack of adult supervision lead to tragic consequences.

Parents, we appeal to you! The life and health of your child is your responsibility:

  • never leave children unattended near water, even if the child can swim well or the water seems shallow;
  • prohibit swimming in undesignated places - where there are no equipped beaches and lifeguard posts, and the bottom of the river or lake has not been checked;
  • Monitor teenagers' leisure activities. Children aged 12-16 often go to the water without their parents' knowledge in groups where they play dangerous games or jump from bridges and cliffs.

Constantly remind children of the rules of safe behavior on the water. A strong current or a sudden change in depth can be deadly, so the child should know what to do in an emergency.

In the event of an emergency on the water, immediately call the emergency numbers 102 or 112.
