The Order "For Courage" of the 3rd degree was awarded to the father of the fallen defender Denys Bodnaryuk

Today, the Chuhuyiv community presented the state award — the Order "For Courage" of the 3rd degree — to the father of a fallen soldier Denys Volodymyrovych Bodnaryuk.

The award, with which the President of Ukraine posthumously recognized the soldier's courage and heroism, was presented to his father during a solemn ceremony. This award is a recognition of the courage of Denis, who performed combat missions until his last breath, defending Ukraine.

Denys Volodymyrovych Bodnaryuk was born on September 8, 1990 in the village of Kochetok, Chuguiv district. He graduated from the Chuguiv Agrarian Lyceum and became a tractor driver. In 2008–2010, he served under contract in the 92nd separate mechanized brigade.

On February 25, 2025, Denys was mobilized and sent to the 71st Separate Jaeger Brigade, where, after basic training, he took up the position of deputy commander of the 8th Special Purpose Reconnaissance Group.

During his short but extremely intense combat career, Denis proved himself to be a brave, responsible, and professional soldier. In June 2025, he received the "War Veteran" badge.

On September 24, 2025, a reconnaissance group under the command of Denis was performing a combat mission in the area of the settlement of Toretske, Pokrovsky district, Donetsk region. During the operation, the group captured two enemy servicemen. In the evening, the enemy discovered the group's position and dropped grenades from a drone. Denis Bodnaryuk received a serious wound incompatible with life. He died as a true Hero — performing a combat mission and saving his comrades.

The funeral service for the defender took place on October 6, 2025 at the cemetery in his native Kochetok.

On behalf of the entire Chuguiv territorial community We express our sincere condolences to Denis's father, son Anton, brother, sister, grandmother, and entire family.

Your loss is the pain of our entire region. Denys Bodnaryuk will forever remain in the memory of the community as a courageous, devoted and loving son of Ukraine. His feat will not be forgotten.

Glory to the Hero! Glory to Ukraine!
