In Ukraine, more and more changes are starting with small initiatives in communities, from renovating school spaces to supporting cultural projects. However, almost every such idea faces the same question: where to find the resources to implement it.
One effective tool for this is crowdfunding, a way to raise funds when people support projects important to the community with a large number of small donations.
It is for those who want to master this tool that "My City" is launching an online training course "How a Community Can Raise Funds: A Guide to Crowdfunding.". It consists of 7 video lectures that can be completed at a convenient pace. After each module, short tests are provided to consolidate knowledge, and upon completion of the training, participants can take a final test and receive a certificate.
For whom
The course is designed for active communities and organizations from all over Ukraine that want to implement a social project, but need knowledge and support at the start. It will be useful for public organizations, initiative groups at city and village councils, state and municipal institutions, school and museum groups, local activists and volunteers. In fact, for anyone who has an idea for change and wants to learn how to attract support for its implementation.
What will be on the course?
The course program is structured so that participants can prepare their own crowdfunding campaign step by step and submit it to the "My City" platform immediately upon completion of the training.
Topics covered in the course:
● What is crowdfunding and how can a community launch its first fundraiser?
● Crowdfunding campaign calendar: how to plan everything and a little more.
● The role of social networks in crowdfunding.
● Project PR: how to make sure everyone knows about the collection?
● Interaction with partners: search, verification and effective collaboration.
● Transparency and accountability in fundraising.
● Next steps: how to run a project on the My City platform?
Upon completion, participants will receive a certificate of completion and will be able to submit their own project on the My City platform.

Additional opportunity: mentoring support for 20 teams
Teams that complete the course and submit an application on the platform by March 30 will be eligible for additional support. The My City team will review all applications and select 20 teams by April 6 to receive mentoring support to launch their own crowdfunding campaign.
Within this program, teams will work together with a personal mentor who will help from the preparation stage to the completion of the collection. Participants will receive regular feedback, assistance with the structure of the crowdfunding campaign and setting priorities, as well as practical advice based on the experience of implementing crowdfunding projects. Support for the «My City» team will continue until the completion of the collection and the reporting stage.
Even if the team does not make it to the top twenty, it will still be able to receive advice from the platform manager before submitting its project.
The course "How to Raise Funds for a Community: A Guide to Crowdfunding" is designed to show that sometimes all it takes to bring about change in a community is a strong idea, an active team, and tools that will help unite people around this idea.
