
The Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine has extended the deadline for submitting proposals for the Competition of projects to strengthen Ukrainian national and civic identity, developed by civil society institutions, for the implementation of which financial support is provided in 2026.
Civil society institutions wishing to receive financial support for the implementation of their initiatives in 2026 have the opportunity to submit applications until February 22, 2026, at 11:59 p.m.

The Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine invites civil society institutions to participate in shaping the future of Ukraine and submit projects aimed at strengthening Ukrainian national and civic identity.
The competition is an opportunity to implement important, meaningful, and modern initiatives that meet today's challenges and involve citizens in state-building processes.
Priority tasks of the competition
1. Formation of Ukrainian civic identity among the population based on socio-state (national) values
Approximate topics:
- affirmation of European and Euro-Atlantic values as a component of Ukrainian national and civic identity;
- formation of conscious respect for state symbols, the Ukrainian language and socio-state values as the basis for the formation and stability of the Ukrainian state;
- the role of the indigenous peoples of Ukraine in strengthening Ukrainian national and civic identity as an integral and indivisible part of the Ukrainian political nation;
- strengthening unity in Ukrainian society through interregional exchanges and partnership initiatives between communities;
- promoting the unity of the state through interregional interaction based on the recognition of the diversity of cultural and historical heritage of regions and common values.
2. Formation of defense awareness and civic resilience
Approximate topics:
- strengthening the civic resilience of society through the involvement of war veterans, Defenders of Ukraine in educational and informational events;
- strengthening social cohesion of citizens as the foundation of national stability and collective security in conditions of martial law;
- formation of citizens' readiness to protect the territorial integrity and independence of Ukraine and responsibility for the security of the state;
- establishing the image of the modern Defender of Ukraine as a model of value orientations;
- building citizens' readiness to act in crisis and emergency situations.
3. Popularization of the history of Ukraine
In particular, the struggle of the Ukrainian people for self-determination and the creation of their own state, prominent figures in Ukrainian statehood, war veterans, Defenders of Ukraine who died in the struggle for the independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine, as well as Ukrainians whose achievements have entered world history.
Approximate topics:
- coverage of key stages of the armed and political struggle of the Ukrainian people for independence and statehood with a focus on the modern War of Independence of Ukraine;
- implementation of projects aimed at exposing historical falsifications and manipulations, restoring historical truth, and understanding the processes of decolonization and decommunization;
- establishing the images of the Heroes of the War for Independence of Ukraine as a component of national history and civic identity;
- creation and distribution of interactive digital content (audio, video products) aimed at strengthening Ukrainian national and civic identity, taking into account the principles of accessibility;
- countering historical falsifications, disinformation and manipulative interpretations of history in the public space;
- popularization of the contribution of Ukrainians to world history, science, culture, sports and diplomacy;
- highlighting the historical and contemporary contribution of indigenous peoples and national minorities to the processes of Ukrainian statehood and the protection of Ukraine's independence.
4. Developing critical thinking and media literacy
Approximate topics:
- building skills in cybersecurity, cyber hygiene, and resilience to cyber attacks, particularly among the most vulnerable population groups;
- strengthening public resilience to hostile informational and psychological influences;
- developing skills in analyzing, evaluating and verifying information using fact-checking tools;
- increasing resistance to information attacks during periods of crisis events and military challenges.
5. Formation of Ukrainian national and civic identity among Ukrainian citizens abroad and in temporarily occupied territories
Approximate topics:
- creating products to spread Ukrainian traditions and cultural practices among Ukrainian citizens who are forced to stay abroad, Ukrainians abroad, and citizens in temporarily occupied territories;
- development of modern digital infrastructure for the formation, establishment and preservation of Ukrainian identity;
- consolidation of Ukrainians abroad and in temporarily occupied territories around common social and state values.
6. Popularization and preservation of the cultural heritage of Ukraine
Approximate topics:
- establishing the integrity of the national narrative through the promotion of iconic places and local routes;
- combination of regional identity and national integrity of cultural heritage;
- creation and dissemination of modern creative products aimed at understanding and popularizing the cultural values of Ukraine;
- formation of social responsibility for the preservation of cultural heritage as the basis of national memory;
- rethinking traditions and cultural codes through modern formats;
- supporting the creation of a Ukrainian book for children and adolescents;
- actualization of the tangible and intangible cultural heritage of the Ukrainian people.
