Born on February 12, 1973 in the village of Velyky Burluk. In the village of Vilhuvatka, Velyky-Burlutsky district, he studied and graduated from secondary school of grades I-III with a gold medal. In 1995, he graduated with honors from the Kharkiv State Academy of Technology and Food Organization. In the same year, he began his career as a state tax inspector in the city of Chuguiv. In 2009, he was appointed to the position of chief state tax auditor-inspector in the state tax police in the city of Chuguiv. In 2011, he was awarded the medal "For the Service, for the Benefit of the State.".
Dmitry Tarasov served as a senior gunner of the grenade launcher platoon of the 5th assault battalion of the 92nd separate assault brigade named after Kosh Ataman Ivan Sirko.
Friends recall that Dmytro was a responsible person, a professional in his field, an athlete, a loving husband and father.

The unit where he served was performing a combat mission near the settlement of Andriyivka, Bakhmut district, Donetsk region, on November 5-6, 2023. On November 6, 2023, during enemy artillery fire, he was directly hit by a shell explosion.
Dmitry Tarasov was said goodbye in Chuguiv on November 23, 2023. He was buried in the city of Chuguiv on the Alley of Memory.
