Born on January 27, 1999 in the city of Chuguiv. From the 1st to the 9th grades he studied at the comprehensive school No. 1 of the Chuguiv city council. Later he studied at the Kharkiv Radio Technical College, receiving a complete secondary education.
He served under a contract since February 2017. Initially, he served as a BTR-70 gunner in the 92nd Separate Mechanized Brigade. After the end of his contract with the 92nd Separate Mechanized Brigade, from January 2021 he continued his service under a contract in the 93rd Separate Mechanized Brigade "Kholodny Yar" (military unit A1302) as a senior gunner of the AGS-17.
At the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, while in reserve (after the end of his contract), in March 2022 he voluntarily went to serve through the Chuguiv Regional Military District in the 27th Rocket Artillery Brigade named after Kosh Ataman Petro Kalnyshevsky (military unit A1476), and in July 2022 he expressed his desire and was transferred to the 53rd Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Prince Volodymyr Monomakh (military unit A0536). He served as a reconnaissance officer-service number of the 2nd reconnaissance detachment of the 1st reconnaissance platoon of the reconnaissance company.
He has repeatedly participated in hostilities since 2017. He was a participant in the ATO/JFO.

Circumstances of death:
On August 24, 2022, at about 12:30 p.m. in the combat zone near the settlement of Kurdyumivka, Donetsk region, while moving on foot, the reconnaissance group of the reconnaissance company of the 53rd separate mechanized brigade named after Prince Volodymyr Monomakh, the group came under dense fire from enemy troops. As a result of the shelling of the reconnaissance group, Yevhen Kanivets was mortally wounded, but his body could not be evacuated and it remained in the territory occupied by the enemy. The fact of Yevhen's death was confirmed by the explanations of the events by witnesses and the Death Certificate.
