Why is heatwave becoming increasingly dangerous?

Because high temperatures, dry grass, wind, and human carelessness create conditions under which a fire can break out in a matter of seconds.

On hot days, fire spreads more quickly to open areas, spreads more easily to forest belts, fields, outbuildings, and yards, and can pose a threat to people.

That is why during extreme heat it is especially important to be attentive to any source of fire in an open area.

If you see a fire, don't delay. Call 101.

The State Emergency Service urges: if you notice a fire, notify the rescuers. A timely call can stop a major fire.
