Economical consumption – a rule of careful attitude to energy resources and assistance to energy workers

The level of electricity consumption can increase both in winter, when there are severe frosts, and in summer, when there is heat.

In winter, increased load occurs due to the use of powerful heaters, and in summer, on the contrary, consumers create a comfortable air temperature in the rooms thanks to appliances and cooling systems.

It is especially difficult for the power system to handle peak loads: from 07:00 to 10:00 and from 16:00 to 23:00.

The simultaneous operation of thousands of air conditioners on hot days adds up to 2 GW of additional load to the power system.

Additionally, the network is loaded by refrigerators operating at maximum capacity, as well as pumps for irrigation in household plots.

The total available power of the power system is also affected by the fact that during the warm season, scheduled repairs of power plant units (especially nuclear ones) are carried out to prepare them for the heating season.

It is worth noting that due to damage to thermal and hydroelectric power plants, which are shunting generation, the power system is more difficult to balance in the event of sharp spikes in consumption.

Electrical networks have also suffered significant damage from constant attacks, so excessive load on the networks often leads to emergencies.

The operation of solar and wind power plants depends on the weather; in the evening, the generation of solar power plants gradually decreases.

How to help the energy system and energy workers?

Use electricity rationally, especially during evening peak hours.

Postpone the use of powerful appliances (washing machines, dishwashers, boilers) to daytime hours or at night.

Take care of shading the rooms.

Set the air conditioner to a moderate temperature (for example, 23-24°C), not to the minimum, to reduce the load on the network and at the same time the amount of electricity bills.

Cover windows with thick curtains, use reflective blinds or sun protection film on the glass.

Minimize the use of devices that emit heat: unplug computers, TVs, and other appliances that are in standby mode.

Following simple recommendations for rational and economical energy consumption is a significant help to the energy system in order to avoid the forced application of restrictions.
