Viktor made his conscious choice in favor of defending the Motherland in April 2016, signing his first contract with the Armed Forces of Ukraine through the Melitopol OMVK.

On May 14, 2016, he took the military oath of allegiance to the Ukrainian people at the 184th training center of the Hetman Petro Sahaidachny National Academy of Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. After completing initial training as a cadet, he quickly demonstrated leadership qualities and was promoted to the rank of junior sergeant on July 10, 2016. Later, Viktor was transferred to the 55th Separate Artillery Brigade «Zaporizhzhya Sich», where he served as a gun commander and a detachment commander. During this contract, Viktor took a direct part in the hostilities in the ATO/JFO zone in eastern Ukraine (he has the status of a combatant). In the spring of 2019, after the expiration of the contract, he was released into the reserve and enrolled in the operational reserve, but in June of the same year he returned to the army for a new contract with the 201st Training Center of Engineering Troops and Radiation, Chemical, and Biological Protection Troops within the structure of the Support Forces Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

With the beginning of a new stage of fierce fighting, Viktor Viktorovich was without hesitation in the ranks of the most responsible sections of the front. Since the end of 2023, he fought as part of the airborne assault troops, in particular, in the 80th separate airborne assault brigade as a senior rifleman. While serving in the airborne assault brigade, he was wounded. After a short treatment, Viktor returned to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
During 2024 and the first half of 2025, his military career passed through the units of the 8th Separate Rifle Battalion, the 78th Separate Airborne Assault Brigade and the 199th Training Center of the Airborne Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. From July 20, 2025, Viktor Viktorovych continued his military service as part of the 808th Dniester Separate Support Brigade of the Support Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In this position, he proved himself to be an experienced and reliable junior commander.

He headed the engineering and sapper unit of the engineering and sapper platoon of the engineering and sapper company of the engineering and sapper battalion. Together with his unit, Viktor performed complex combat missions in the Sumy direction, where sappers under his leadership provided remote mining of approaches, restraining enemy forces and protecting the Ukrainian border.

Circumstances of death:
Years of extremely heavy physical and emotional stress exhausted the defender's heart. In the spring of 2026, Viktor's unit was at the stage of combat coordination in the city of Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi, Odessa region. Together with the new unit, they were actively preparing to go on new combat missions. During the training process, Viktor suddenly became very ill. He was urgently taken to the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi hospital. Doctors fought for his life to the last, but the serviceman failed to save him. On May 4, 2026, the heart of the courageous warrior stopped. Viktor Viktorovich Andrusov died of a heart attack, remaining faithful to his military oath, his brothers, and the Ukrainian people until the last day of his life.
Considering that the deceased defender's mother is under occupation, the brother decided to bury Viktor Andrusov in the city of Chuguiv. On 12.05.2026, the defender was buried with full military honors on the Alley of Memory in the city of Chuguiv.
The defender is survived by his mother and brother.
