
Born on 03/23/1975 in the village of Ternova, Chuguiv district, Kharkiv region. Later, together with his parents, he moved to the city of Chuguiv. He studied at secondary school No. 2. After graduating from school in 1992, he decided to continue his studies at the Kochetotsk Forestry College, after which he graduated with a degree in hunting, but he never worked in his specialty, because his entire subsequent life was connected with military service. At first, he was a conscript, and later he became a career soldier and served in the Armed Forces of Ukraine for over 25 years.



He served in the military service from July to August 1993 as part of the 933rd Fighter Aviation Regiment of the Air Defense Forces, and then as part of the 744th Fuel Supply Center in the city of Khmelnytskyi. From June to November 1994, he studied at the School of Junior Aviation Specialists (SHMAS) with a deployment location in the city of Chuguiv, Kharkiv region. After graduating from school, having received the rank of ensign, he was at the disposal of the head of the school for some time, and from 1995 to 2020 he served in the personnel military service in the combat and logistics units of the 203rd Training Aviation Brigade of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.


A full-scale war could not leave the military pensioner aside, and in January 2024, Serhiy was mobilized through the Chuhuiv RTCC and SP, and for some time underwent retraining at the 184th training center of the National Academy of Land Forces named after Hetman Petro Sahaidachny.

In May 2024, he signed a military contract with the 92nd separate assault brigade named after the Kosh Ataman Ivan Sirko. He served in the military service as the commander of an easel grenade launcher of the anti-tank platoon of the 3rd assault battalion. The battalion conducted combat operations in the Pokrovsky direction for many months, and the battalion's fighters did not leave the Russians any chance of advancing. At the same time, difficult weather conditions in February 2026 in the Pokrovsky direction gave impetus to the activation of Russian troops. According to operational information as of 16:00 on 02/20/2026, in the Pokrovsky direction, since the beginning of the day, the invaders tried 14 times to push our soldiers from the occupied positions in the areas of the settlements of Rodynske, Mirnograd, Pokrovsk, Kotlyne, Udachne, Molodetske and towards Novooleksandrivka. The defense forces held back the enemy.

Circumstances of death:
On February 20, 2026, the occupiers tried to infiltrate in small groups and simultaneously intensified attacks on Ukrainian logistical routes. Such attacks were also carried out in the vicinity of Novooleksandrivka, Synelnyk district, Dnipropetrovsk region. During one such attack, Serhiy Radchenko received shrapnel wounds incompatible with life.


The deceased soldier is survived by his father, mother, older brother, son, daughter and friends, in whose memory Serhiy remained a good, reliable son, brother, father and friend. He was hardworking and strong in spirit. In his youth, he studied at the Youth and Sports School of the city of Chuguiv in the football department. He became a multiple prize-winner of the regional championship in his age category. He was one of the best strikers. He defended the honor of the city, already in adult football, at district and regional competitions. He took an active part in veteran football. His older brother says that "Serhiy loved football with all his soul. He loved it for the emotions, for the struggle, for the team spirit". For a long time he played for the Ukrainian football club from the city of Chuguiv, Kharkiv region "Start".
The serviceman was buried as a Hero in his hometown of Chuguiv on the Alley of Memory on February 26, 2026.
During his military service, Serhiy Radchenko was repeatedly awarded medals and diplomas. He was awarded the Order of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine "For Conscientious Service" of all three degrees.
