Your health after 40: get a free examination under the state program

In 2026, a large-scale national program "Health Screening 40+" was launched in Ukraine. Its goal is to provide free screening of citizens over the age of 40 for early detection of cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and mental health disorders. The state has allocated UAH 10 billion for the implementation of the project.

What is included in the free examination package?

The program allows you to undergo a comprehensive examination in one visit at a public or private hospital.

Screening includes:

  • questionnaire: assessment of individual risks and mental health status;
  • clinical examination: general examination by a doctor;
  • laboratory tests: tests that check the functioning of the heart, blood vessels, and kidneys;
  • recommendations: individual treatment plan or lifestyle changes.

How to participate: step-by-step instructions

The program provides one free screening per year. Every Ukrainian aged 40+ can become a participant.

Option A: via the Action app«

1. The invitation will arrive in the application 30 days after your birthday.

2. Action.Card: Order a new one or use an existing card in the app.

3. Payment: within 7 days, 2,000 hryvnias will be charged to the card, which can be spent exclusively on this screening.

4. Registration: choose an institution on the website https://screening.moz.gov.ua/ and get tested.

Option B: for those who don't use a smartphone

1. Bank: 30 days after your birthday, contact the bank (currently PrivatBank) to open a special account.

2. ASC: contact the nearest administrative services center to submit an application.

3. Result: receive 2000 UAH on a plastic card and choose a medical facility.

If you do not use the funds, they are returned to the state budget at the end of the year. In this case, the service will be available to you only next year.

Why is this important?

Statistics show that it is after the age of 40 that the risks of critical illnesses increase dramatically:

  • 60% of premature deaths in Ukraine are caused by heart disease.
  • 1.3 million Ukrainians know about their diabetes, but the same number of people live with the disease without suspecting it.
  • Up to 10 million people may have mental health problems due to the stress of war.

What's next?
If a problem is detected during screening, the patient is not left alone with the disease. The state provides support through the "Affordable Medicines" program. Currently, more than 700 drugs (insulins, blood pressure medications, test strips) can be obtained free of charge or with a small surcharge.

Remember: screening is your chance to detect a disease before it causes complications. Don't wait for symptoms, exercise your right to a health check!
