
Police urge citizens not to ignore basic safety rules while swimming.
On July 27, a woman contacted the police with a report that her 40-year-old husband had disappeared while relaxing near a pond in the village of Nova Vodolaga. According to her, he was last heard from at around 3:25 p.m. His belongings were found on the beach, but the man himself did not return home. The next day, the body of the drowned man was found in the pond.
On the same day, at around 5:00 p.m., a 43-year-old man, while intoxicated, dived into the water and disappeared on a beach in the Kyivsky district of Kharkiv. His body was found by rescuers with no signs of life.
Investigators have launched a pre-trial investigation into both facts under Part 1 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine with the note "accident.".
The Kharkiv Region Police once again reminds:
- Do not drink alcoholic beverages before or during swimming.
- Do not leave children unattended near water.
- Swim only in permitted and equipped places.
- Do not swim too deep, especially if you are not a good swimmer.
- Do not swim alone or in the dark.
In case of an emergency, call the police immediately at 102.
