Recently, there has been a tendency to increase cases of injuries to citizens at railway infrastructure facilities, in particular on the territory of railway stations. Since the beginning of 2025, 125 bystanders have received injuries of varying severity at stations, crossings, and territories of Ukrzaliznytsia JSC divisions as a result of being hit by railway rolling stock, falling from it, or other types of impact, including 73 with fatal consequences. Among the injured, 24 children under the age of 16 were injured, 13 of them were fatally injured.
20 people were injured as a result of electric shock, 8 of them fatally. Among the injured, 16 were children under the age of 16, 6 of them fatally.
Behind every case of injury to citizens on railway transport is a gross violation of the Rules for the Safety of Citizens on Railway Transport of Ukraine.
Among the most common causes of injury are:
- walking on tracks and crossing tracks in unspecified places;
- crossing railway crossings at prohibited light and sound signals;
- walking on tracks with headphones or other devices that reduce the level of attentiveness;
- being closer than 0.5 m from the edge of the platform or track when accepting, departing or following a train;
- being in a state of alcoholic intoxication on railway transport facilities;
- extreme entertainment;
- electric shock injury.
Most often, electrical injuries occur on the roofs of train cars, where teenagers try to climb out of a desire to show off to their peers, for selfies, entertainment, etc.
However, the video posted on the Internet provokes extremists to repeat the "feats", and the thought that "bad things can happen to anyone, but not to me" can play a cruel joke...
On the roof of the train, there is a high probability of getting an electric arc. A person is electrocuted, as a result of which he falls from the roof of the train and receives injuries from the fall. Most often these are fractures of the arms, legs, ribs and spine, often open head injuries. Burning of clothes and hair is accompanied by skin burns. It is worth saying that the current passes through all organs and affects them. After a person finds himself on the roof of the train, he can burn alive.
