In order to raise awareness about mental health issues, October 10th has been celebrated every year since 1992. World Mental Health Day (World Mental Health Day), or Mental Health Day. This day was established on the initiative of the World Federation for Mental Health with the support of the World Health Organization.
It exists to draw attention to mental health issues in the world and reduce the spread of depressive disorders, schizophrenia, Alzheimer's disease, drug addiction, epilepsy, and mental retardation.
But recently, this problem has been oriented towards maintaining the mental well-being and balance of any person. World Mental Health Day is aimed at supporting people who do not suffer from serious mental disorders, but are going through difficult times and need willpower and character to help them cope with any life difficulties.
Scientific studies show that most people can independently, even without special professional interventions of crisis psychologists, ensure that they are in a certain psycho-emotional state of balance, restore their self-regulation. Learn to listen to yourself and your needs, analyze the situation in order to weigh the next steps and life decisions. It is worth remembering that the psyche is vulnerable, but understanding how to support it helps yourself, creates a real "vision" of the situation, and gives you the opportunity to think critically in difficult circumstances.
Mental health is an important component of a person's overall health and includes a state of emotional, psychological and social well-being. Maintaining mental health is of great importance for quality of life, personal development and general well-being.
There are early indicators of mental health problems that should not be ignored: mood swings; sleep disturbances (too short or too long sleep); appetite disturbances; feelings of constant anxiety and fear; constant irritability; awareness of one's own helplessness in life situations.
Here are some ways that can help: PRESERVE AND SUPPORT MENTAL HEALTH:
Creating a positive environment: It is important to surround yourself with positive people who support and understand you. Avoid toxic relationships and try to maintain harmony in your environment.
Daily physical activity: Physical activity is the best medicine for relieving psycho-emotional tension, overcoming stress, and preventing diseases. Physical exercises help improve mood, gain a sense of confidence, and bring the functional state of the body to an optimal level.
Proper nutrition: To do this, you do not need to follow any special diet. Nutrition should be: stable, balanced, healthy, filled with a set of substances that our body needs (microelements, vitamins). A balanced diet helps maintain energy and can improve your physical and mental health.
Rest and sleep: During sleep, we restore our basic life needs. Our brain rests and we can be fully prepared to implement our plans the next day. During sleep, we fight the stresses that have occurred. A person who is experiencing great stress will restore their functional activity faster if they sleep than a person who is struggling with this stress and cannot fall asleep. Provide yourself with enough time for rest and regular sleep.
Stress management: Learn to manage stress effectively. You can do this by using relaxation techniques that include meditation, yoga, or deep breathing.
Social connections: People are social creatures, so social isolation is harmful. Communicate with friends, family, colleagues, like-minded people. Exchange ideas, support each other - all this helps us function better, allows us to feel in good shape and maintain vitality. During greetings, handshakes, hugs, kisses, the hormone oxytocin is released, which causes a feeling of pleasure, reduces anxiety and fear, and increases the level of trust.
Finding satisfaction in work and hobbies: Work and activities that interest and bring you pleasure can have a positive impact on your mental health.
Managing expectations: Realistic expectations for yourself and the world around you will help you avoid disappointment and excessive stress.
Professional help: If you experience persistent stress, anxiety, or depression, do not hesitate to seek professional counseling and treatment from a psychologist or psychiatrist.
Maintaining mental health is a process that requires attention and effort, but it is very important for achieving quality of life and well-being. Pay attention to your emotional and mental well-being and take steps to improve it.
