The State Environmental Inspectorate in Kharkiv region annually on the eve of the New Year holidays reveals facts of unauthorized felling of coniferous plantations, as well as violations of the procedure for their sale. In view of this, the Chuguiv City Council informs representatives of markets and trading platforms about the need to unconditionally comply with the requirements of environmental legislation during the procurement and sale of coniferous plantations.

We warn managers of forestry enterprises, forest users, representatives of markets and trading platforms, and owners of coniferous nurseries about the need to comply with the requirements of environmental legislation and take appropriate response measures to prevent illegal actions during the sale of Christmas trees.

It is worth remembering that entrepreneurs who transport and sell Christmas trees must have a forestry invoice, a freight bill, a certificate of radiation inspection of trees, a wet-seal trade permit, and each tree must have an electronic chip with a barcode of the forestry where it was grown.

We recommend that you comply with the requirements of current environmental legislation. If violations are detected, the guilty parties will be held administratively liable.

According to Article 65 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses, illegal felling, damage and destruction of forest crops and young trees entails the imposition of a fine:

  • for citizens – from 510 to 1020 hryvnias;
  • for officials – from 2,550 to 5,100 hryvnias.

Let's remember that a cut green tree will only be in our home for a few days or weeks, but in the forest - for years. So let's take care of the environment!
