Traffic rules are not changing – they are moving to the «winter period.» This was announced live on the «United News» telethon by Oleksiy Biloshitsky, First Deputy Head of the Patrol Police Department.
The winter period is always a period of increased danger for all road users. Therefore, on those sections of roads where the speed limit was allowed to be increased to 80 km/h, road signs will be changed to a speed limit of 50 km/h.
Oleksiy Biloshitskyi said that paragraph 12.8 of the Traffic Rules has existed for a long time and the possibility of establishing a different speed limit for the summer period is provided for there:
«"In some cities of our country, on those sections of road where both road conditions and road safety allow, higher speed limit signs were installed. That is, 80 km/h for the summer period. This period is now ending - and from November 1, the specified signs will be changed to standard ones, that is, a speed limit of 50 km/h. Thus, the Rules are actually not changing, and the winter period is coming, which does not provide for other speed limits.".
