From July 1 to 31, the Ukrainian Wikipedia is hosting the national part of the international photo contest "Wiki Loves Earth" 2026.
«"Wiki Loves Earth" is the largest international photo contest dedicated to natural monuments, launched in 2013 in Ukraine, and since 2014 has been held all over the world. The Ukrainian contest will be held for the thirteenth time, and over the years it has collected more than 133 thousand photos. Photos and videos uploaded to the contest are then used to illustrate articles on Wikipedia.
What photos can I upload?
The competition is dedicated to natural monuments, so photos should be submitted that depict objects of the nature reserve fund (NRF). For example, a photo of an oak tree on the outskirts of the city is not suitable for the competition, but photos Vysočany oaks You can download it in Kalush, because it is a landmark.
How do I check if a photo can be uploaded?
Especially for the competition, volunteers are developing a single list of objects of the nature reserve fund of Ukraine: https://wikilovesearth.org.ua/lists-of-sights/.
Select the area from which you have a photo, the district and search for the attraction in the list.
Importantly: for safety reasons of participants, only photos taken before May 31, 2026 (inclusive) and before February 23, 2022 (inclusive) for photos taken from drones and other flying devices are accepted for participation in the photo contest.
Anyone can upload photos, the main thing is that these photos were taken personally by the contestants and correspond to competition rules.
Traditionally, the competition has two main nominations: "For quantitative contribution" and "For qualitative contribution". The first will recognize the participants who photographed the most natural monuments. In the second, the jury will select the best photo from each region of Ukraine, and from among them - the 10 best photos of Ukraine. The 15 best photos will represent Ukraine at the international stage.
Also, anyone can participate in the special categories "Video" and "Lost Nature." The second is dedicated to photographs of natural monuments that have suffered or been damaged as a result of war, human activity, etc.
The winners of the national stage will receive valuable prizes from the organizers of the competition, the NGO "Wikimedia Ukraine".
