Due to the deterioration of the epizootic situation regarding avian influenza in the world (804 cases in European countries since September 2025), taking into account the increased risk of introduction and spread of influenza during the autumn migration of target species of wild migratory birds and the registration of cases of avian influenza in Ukraine (last case: 07.11.2025, 1 corpse of a swan, Boryspil city, Boryspil district, Kyiv region), the threat of the spread of the avian influenza pathogen and Newcastle disease to the territory of Kharkiv region has increased.

In order to protect private farms from the introduction of the avian influenza pathogen, the Chuhuiv District Department of the Main Department of the State Service for Food and Consumer Protection in the Kharkiv region recommends strict adherence to biosecurity measures, namely:

  • provide poultry for examination and vaccination against Newcastle disease to specialists of the state veterinary service;
  • organize free-range poultry keeping;
  • keep poultry in conditions that exclude their contact with foreign (wild and synanthropic) birds;
  • the import of new poultry must be carried out from territories free from infectious poultry diseases;
  • ensure proper sanitary conditions for keeping poultry (regularly clean and disinfect the premises where poultry are kept);
  • poultry care should be carried out only in clothes and shoes specially designated for this purpose, which must be washed and cleaned regularly;
  • use only high-quality and safe bird feed, which should preferably be heat-treated (steamed or boiled) before feeding;
  • when slaughtering poultry, pollute the environment with slaughter products (feathers, blood, etc.) as little as possible;
  • follow the rules of personal safety and hygiene.

In case of bird disease, mass mortality, as well as identification of places of mass death of wild and synanthropic birds in fields, forests and other places It is necessary to immediately notify the specialists of the nearest veterinary medicine station at the following address:

  • Oleksandra Zachepyla St., 15, Chuhuyiv, Kharkiv region.
