In the Chuhuiv community, money has been given out instead of food packages from the UN

From April 2024, the UN World Food Programme (WPF) has changed food aid in the form of food kits to financial aid. Its amount is UAH 1,500 per household member.

The money is credited exclusively to those residents who received food packages from the UN in the first quarter of 2024 and have previously registered. Assistance is available to vulnerable categories of the population. The duration of the provision of cash assistance is 4 months. Then the next stage of registration is planned.

On May 14, a delegation from the World Food Program Office in Ukraine, led by its head, Marianne Ward, visited Chuguiv. The guests were met by the deputy mayor - manager of the executive committee, Lyudmila Makarenko, and the director of the Chuguiv territorial social service center, Tetyana Semiletova. Residents of the community who receive assistance from the UN were also invited to the meeting.

Addressing the representatives of the World Food Program team, Lyudmila Makarenko expressed her sincere gratitude to them for the assistance they have provided to the residents of the Chuhuiv community from the first days of the war, when most stores were closed and the logistics of food delivery were disrupted, until today. During this time, thousands of families have received food kits.

Lyudmila Makarenko also appealed to UN representatives to improve the registration system for receiving cash assistance, because at the first stage, not all those who wanted to register had time to do so.

In communication with UN representatives, residents of the Chuhuiv community noted that it is much more convenient for them to receive cash assistance instead of food packages, because this way people have the opportunity to independently decide which goods they want to purchase.

Marianne Ward, addressing the people of Chugui, assured that the UN World Food Program would continue to provide assistance to Ukrainians.
