Project "RENOVATION": grants for people with limited economic opportunities for training (retraining)

The Czech humanitarian organization "People in Need" with financial support from Switzerland through the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation announces a COMPETITION FOR MICROGRANTS FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH LIMITED ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITIES FOR TRAINING (RE-Skilling) UP TO 2000$ (payments will be made in the hryvnia equivalent at the official exchange rate of the NBU, as of the first day of the month in which the grant agreement is signed).

*The size of the grant will depend on the submitted proposal and budget. 

Project geography:

Kharkiv region: Berestyn, Kharkiv, Lozov, Bogodukhiv, Chuhuyiv districts. Accordingly, all communities included in the indicated districts can participate in the project.

WHO CAN RECEIVE A GRANT: 

  • local residents or internally displaced persons living in targeted communities;

low-income individuals who have lost their jobs or their own businesses as a result of the war; * a person with a low income is considered an individual whose total average monthly income per household member for the last 6 (six) calendar months is (after tax) prior to submitting the Application for participation in the Project does not exceed 2.5 times the subsistence minimum for able-bodied persons in Ukraine (3,028 UAH), i.e. 7,570 UAH, who has no income is considered to have not received income during the last 6 (six) calendar months prior to submitting the Application for participation in the Project. 

  • individuals seeking to change their profession (retraining); 
  • have reached the age of majority (18 years). 

 PRIORITY IN SELECTING PARTICIPANTS WILL BE GIVEN TO: 

• persons with disabilities;

• internally displaced persons;

• single mothers/fathers/guardians;

• people of pre-retirement age (50+) or older (60+);

• representatives of ethnic minorities;

• veterans.

CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION IN THE PROJECT 

  1. Duration of training (retraining): up to 6 months. 
  2. Training format: offline or online. 
  3. The type of company that the participant can choose for training (retraining): registered in Ukraine and has the appropriate KVED (85.59; 85.32; 85.42) for conducting training courses, trainings, seminars in the areas of activity chosen by the participant. 
  4. The participant must provide a motivation letter describing the purpose of the training and potential employers he/she may contact after the course. 
  5. Mandatory provision of confirmation of training (retraining): provision of a certificate or other supporting document. 

EVALUATION AND DETERMINATION OF GRANT COMPETITION WINNERS

Applications will be evaluated in two rounds. The first round is an assessment of the application for compliance with the project conditions and categories of enterprises, taking into account the project priorities. Pre-selected candidates will be invited to the second round, during which employees of the Czech humanitarian organization "People in Need" will interview the candidates. The final decision on granting the grant will be made by a specially created selection committee. 

In the first round, the relevance of the information provided will be assessed according to the following criteria: 

  • availability of a completed application for participation; 
  • confirmed intention to undergo training/retraining; 
  • economic vulnerability (the total average monthly income per household member for the last 6 (six) calendar months (after tax) prior to submitting the Application for participation in the Project does not exceed 2.5 times the subsistence minimum for able-bodied persons in Ukraine (3,028 UAH), i.e. 7,570 UAH, who has no income is considered to have not received income during the last 6 (six) calendar months prior to submitting the Application for participation in the Project); ;
  • suitability of the territory;
  • confirmed understanding of the project time limit (6 months); 
  • the accuracy of the information provided in the application;
  • lack of prior receipt of grant assistance from the Czech humanitarian organization "People in Need". 

In the second round, participants will be scored based on the following criteria: 

  • motivation and purpose (assessment of the justification for the course choice, its relevance to the applicant's skills, interests and career goals, as well as the availability of employment prospects after training);
  • compliance with labor market needs (the course should be aimed at acquiring skills in demand in the labor market);
  • realistic nature of the proposal (the duration of the program is realistic and feasible within 6 months); 
  • certification and result (obtaining a certificate recognized by government agencies or the private sector will be an advantage);
  • belonging to vulnerable groups of the population (people with disabilities; internally displaced persons; single mothers/fathers/guardians; people of pre-retirement age (50+) or older (60+); representatives of ethnic minorities; veterans); 
  • Preference will be given to participants who have not received grant support from other organizations or the state in the last year.

Before filling out the grant application, we recommend that you read the RECOMMENDATIONS FOR COMPLETING A GRANT APPLICATION

DEADLINE FOR GRANT APPLICATIONS TO 18.01.2026 years

*It is important to fill out all components of the application clearly and completely, as this will directly affect the final evaluation result!

Please note that only one application can be submitted from one household to participate in the microgrant competition. 

Applications that do not meet the above requirements will not be evaluated. The Selection Committee may contact applicants that do not meet the technical requirements for information/clarification, if the errors made by them, in the opinion of the Selection Committee, are minor and will not prevent the implementation of a potentially high-quality project. If, after such a request, the applicant meets all the requirements of the technical selection, such an application will be shortlisted for evaluation by experts.

SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION DOES NOT GUARANTEE RECEIVING A GRANT OR OTHER SUPPORT WITHIN THIS PROJECT.
