The regional department of the State Service for Food and Consumer Protection published an urgent notice about the appearance and development of the main pests of agricultural crops in farms in the Kharkiv region - gray bud weevil beetles.

«"Over the past week, the apple plantations of the Bogodukhov and Lozovsky districts have seen the beginning of the emergence of gray bud weevil beetles, numbering 2.5-3 specimens per tree and inhabiting 19-30% trees."»", the message says.

Experts predict that if the weather is favorable, the emergence and mass settlement of garden weevils in the fruit plantations of the region will continue for one or two weeks.

The State Food and Consumer Protection Service recommends that fruit trees be constantly inspected for the presence of these beetles during budding and tells what to do if the economic thresholds of harmfulness are exceeded (gray bud weevil - 20-30, apple blossom weevil and bullworm - 30-40, gooseberry - 7-8 beetles per tree when shaken). «"It is necessary to take appropriate protective measures using insecticides permitted for use in Ukraine, strictly adhering to the regulations for their use, labor protection requirements, the environment, and ensuring the preservation of beneficial entomofauna and honey bees."», – experts advise.
