The theme of this year's Congress is "The Future of Decentralization in a Changing World". The European Congress of Local Government is a platform for the exchange of ideas and a meeting place for leaders of local authorities and regional elites, representatives of public administration, civil society organizations and businesses. Since the mission of the Congress is to create a favorable atmosphere and better conditions for cooperation between the countries and regions of Central Europe, international partners and experts in relevant fields are invited to participate in the debates.
The 9th European Congress of Local Government brings together more than 2,500 heads of local authorities, regional elites, representatives of public administration, public organizations and businesses from all over Europe. In particular, the forum participants include more than 150 representatives of local government from Ukraine - heads of regional councils, city mayors, people's deputies, deputies of councils of various levels.
The topic of the Congress is relevant for Ukraine, where the process of decentralization - the most successful and European reform - was launched back in 2014.
The program of the international forum is quite rich, with more than 200 events planned - program blocks, discussion panels, lectures and presentations in fifteen thematic areas, including economics, business, management, society, finance, sustainable development, interregional cooperation, a regional culture forum, the tourism industry and health.
Congress discussions will cover, in particular, the problems of modern urban planning, mechanisms for the development of cities and regions, financing of investment projects, city management, environmental protection, health policy, and the activities of local governments in modern conditions.
