25 On June 24, 2024, the President of Ukraine signed the European integration Law on International Cooperation of Local Self-Government (draft law #9450), which will allow communities and regions to work with EU funds in a simplified and broader format and attract their funds.
Former People's Deputy Vitaly Bezgin provided an algorithm of actions community/district/region for international cooperation, in connection with the adoption of draft law No. 9450:
- Searching for an international partner (sister).
- Preparation of a draft agreement on an international project.
- Approval of the draft agreement with the Central Executive Body (the procedure is strictly regulated specifically for the state body and has 30 days for consideration).
- Approval of the agreement at a meeting of the local council.
- Signing of an agreement between partners.
- Development and implementation of a cooperation project (with the possibility of attracting not only international funds, but also funds from the state budget).
We remind you that in the second reading and in general, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine approved Bill No. 9450 April 24, 2024.
