Born on October 14, 1975 in the city of Chuguiv. He graduated from 9th grade at Chuguiv comprehensive school No. 1, and received a mechanic's degree at Chuguiv-Babchansk Forestry College. After graduating, he was drafted into military service.

After completing his military service, he returned to his hometown and worked as an installer at PJSC Ukrtelecom, and later devoted himself to the construction industry.

In 2015, Serhiy signed a contract for military service with the command of the 203rd training aviation brigade and served in the guard battalion. Later, he was seconded to a military unit that performed combat missions to protect the sovereignty and independence of Ukraine in the ATO zone. For almost two years (2016-2017), Serhiy Anatolyevich was in the Donetsk region. After the contract ended, he returned to his hometown and continued to work in the construction sector.

In March 2023, Serhiy Martynov was called up for mobilization by the Chuguiv RTCC and SP and sent to serve in the 425th separate assault regiment "SKALA". He served as a foreman of the armored vehicle maintenance department of the regiment's technical support platoon, and later headed the small arms repair shop of the regiment's technical support platoon.
Serhiy, together with his comrades, had to work on the restoration of both domestic and foreign military equipment and small arms, in particular American M1 Abrams tanks, as well as Leopard 1A5 tanks, during the summer Ukrainian counteroffensive of 2023 in the Pokrov direction.

Serhiy had many friends and acquaintances. Both in civilian life and at the front, he was sociable and always ready to help.
Despite difficult family circumstances (his parents died early, after 10 years of marriage he was forced to divorce, and he lived on his own for some time), he maintained a close relationship with his only son Dmitry, helping him in every way. Here is what his ex-wife said about the relationship between father and son: «Father and son always remained close people, always called each other. Although our divorce was painful for our son, Dmitry never felt abandoned by his father. Even during the war, there was probably not a single day when they did not communicate. Dmitry was very worried about his father, and then his father did not answer his calls for several days. This became a painful event for Dmitry. He kept asking for hope, for almost two years, that his father would call and say that he was alive.».
Circumstances of death:
For a long time, MARTYNOV Sergey Anatolyevich was considered missing. Since December 29, 2023, he has been considered missing in the area of the settlement of Stepove, Pokrovsky district, Donetsk region. For almost two years, Sergey's relatives waited for him, hoping to hear his voice and see him alive and well. But in September 2025, they received the bad news of his death. His body was transferred to his homeland as part of the exchange.

The burial ceremony of our compatriot took place on September 25, 2025 in the city of Chuguiv at cemetery No. 5 on the Alley of Memory.
