
Born on 05/15/1993 in the village of Komyshuvakha, Velikonovosilkivskyi district (now Volnovakha district), Donetsk region. In 2008, he graduated from Shevchenko secondary school of grades I-III, Velikonovosilkivskyi district. During 2008-2010, he studied at the Donetsk military lyceum with enhanced military-physical training, after which from 2010 to 2015 he studied at the I. Kozhedub Kharkiv National Air Force University, specializing in anti-aircraft weapons systems and complexes.

After completing his training, Oleg was sent to the 92nd Separate Mechanized Brigade, where he served for over eight years – from lieutenant to lieutenant colonel, from deputy commander of an anti-aircraft missile battery with weapons to commander of the anti-aircraft missile and artillery division of the 92nd Separate Assault Brigade named after Kosh Ataman Ivan Sirko.

During 2021, Oleg studied at the Ivan Chernyakhovsky National Defense University of Ukraine at the Land Forces Tactical Level Command and Staff Course (L-2). During 2015-2022, together with his colleagues, he participated in the implementation of measures to ensure national security and defense during the ATO and JFO.


Oleg met the first days of the full-scale war in the Kharkiv direction and already on February 26, 2022, having come under fire from an enemy sabotage and reconnaissance group, he received a gunshot shrapnel penetrating soft tissue wound in the lower third of his right lower leg. Despite the wound, Oleg continued to actively participate in measures necessary to ensure the defense of Ukraine, protect the security of the population and the interests of the state in connection with the military aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine.

Circumstances of death:
On December 9, 2023, while performing a duty assignment from the brigade commander, Lieutenant Colonel Oleg Ignatchenko died near the settlement of Kostyantynivka, Donetsk region, receiving injuries incompatible with life.
Lieutenant Colonel Oleg Ignatchenko was buried on December 12, 2023, on the Alley of Glory in the city of Kharkiv at cemetery No. 18.

Oleg Ignatchenko had many awards. Among them are the medal "Participant in the ATO", the medal "For participation in the anti-terrorist operation", the medal "For the defense of Avdiivka". In 2020, in accordance with the order of the Commander of the Joint Forces No. 158 dated February 29, 2020, he received the Honorary Decoration "Cossack Cross", and on March 28, 2022, by Decree of the President of Ukraine No. 180, he was awarded the medal "Defender of the Fatherland".
