
Born on December 12, 1971 in the family of a military man in the city of Leipzig in Germany. Having moved with his family to the village of Malinovka in 1976, he graduated from Malinovka Secondary School No. 1. Since 2000, he has lived in the city of Chuguiv.
He devoted 26 years of his life to the army. During 1989-1991 he served in the Orenburg region in a helicopter unit as a driver, and later as a unit commander. He was discharged with the rank of junior sergeant. After working for some time in civilian positions, he decided to devote himself to service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

From January 1996 to May 2003, he served under contract as the commander of the radio station of the communications company of the 1835th rocket artillery regiment with the place of deployment in the village of Malinovka. From May 2003, he served at the tank training ground of the 92nd separate mechanized brigade in positions related to servicing the training process at the military training ground. At the beginning of the full-scale invasion, he served as the head of the military shooting range of the training ground of the 92nd separate mechanized brigade. In 1998-1999, he participated in a peacekeeping operation in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Circumstances of death:

On the eve of the full-scale invasion of Russian troops, the main units of the 92nd separate mechanized brigade were in field camps. Forces and means that guarded property and part of the military equipment remained at the place of permanent deployment. Igor Klymenko was part of these forces. On 25.02.2022, the training ground of the 92nd separate mechanized brigade was subjected to air and missile strikes. During an enemy attack near the village of Malynivka, Igor Klymenko received a gunshot and explosive injury that was incompatible with life.
Buried on February 28, 2022 in the village of Malinovka.

By Decree of the President of Ukraine No. 178 of March 26, 2022, "for personal courage and selfless actions shown in protecting the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, loyalty to the military oath," he was awarded the Order "For Courage" of the 3rd degree (posthumously).
