Every year on the second Saturday of September, Ukraine celebrates the Day of Physical Culture and Sports. It is not just a date on the calendar, but a reminder: movement is our natural resource for health and good mood.
There is no substitute for physical activity when it comes to maintaining strength, endurance, and good shape. It helps not only the body but also the mind: sports cultivate discipline, increase confidence, and teach you to set goals and achieve them.
For children and adolescents, movement is also a team game, new friends, and positive emotions. It has been proven that activity reduces the risk of anxiety and depression, and also creates a sense of joy in life.
For adults, physical exercise is a powerful prevention of cardiovascular and endocrine diseases, a way to recover from workdays, and a balance between body and mind. It is not for nothing that they say: «A healthy mind in a healthy body.».
How to start moving?
- Plan your training time at a convenient time - in the morning or after work.
- Start small: short runs, light exercise, walks.
- Choose what you like: yoga, swimming, dancing, cycling, or team games.
- Involve your friends and family - training with a group is always easier and more fun.
- Be regular: even a few classes a week will give tangible results.
- Set realistic goals and track your progress - a diary or mobile app will help.
Important: Moderate physical activity is safe for most people. However, if you have a chronic condition or have been inactive for a long time, you should consult your doctor before starting.
Physical Education and Sports Day is a celebration of strength, beauty, and health. If you are already training or just planning to start, it's time to take a step towards an active life. Move and be healthy!
