Circumstances of death:

The anti-aircraft missile artillery division, in which Yuriy defended Ukraine from the first day, was surrounded on February 24, 2022, and only thanks to the great efforts of the military did they manage to get out of the encirclement on February 25. But an hour later, breaking through to Kharkiv, near the settlements of Petrivka and Mykhailivka in the Kharkiv region, the unit came across an enemy column, and a heavy battle ensued. The unit, which included Yuriy, was retreating, losing a lot of manpower and equipment, so the hero's body, probably already without signs of life, ended up in a territory that was temporarily under enemy control, and therefore it was not possible to pick up the bodies of the dead from the occupied territory. Yuriy Berlizov was considered missing in action in the brigade. Only after the liberation of this territory, on May 11, 2022, did one of the residents of the settlement of Mykhailivka find the bodies of the dead (the story of a 63-year-old resident of the village, Vasyl, is behind this by reference). Among them was the body of Yuriy Berlizov. After the procedure for identifying the body of the deceased, Yuriy was buried on May 12, 2022 in the cemetery of the village of Stavkove, Zinkivskyi district, Poltava region.
By the Decree of the President of Ukraine dated 06.07.2022 No. 471, Yuriy was posthumously awarded the Order "For Courage" of the 3rd degree. On 13.10.2022, by order of the commander of the 92nd OMBR, he was awarded (posthumously) the decoration "For the Defense of Kharkiv.".
