The fire danger period is the part of the year when fires occur in natural ecosystems and agricultural lands. To prevent fires in natural ecosystems, including forests, agricultural lands, and peatlands, the population of the region must adhere to certain rules of conduct.
It is strictly forbidden to light fires or burn dry grass and branches under power lines and near transformer substations, as well as to litter the territory in the protected zones of energy facilities.
When you are outdoors, make sure that your vacation is as safe as possible for you, those around you, and the environment.
It is important to prevent the burning of dry vegetation and stubble, because for this reason, the flames of fire often spread to forest stands and can lead to forest fires and reach the level of an emergency.
Kharkiv power engineers remind: self-extinguishing electrical equipment is dangerous to life!
In the event of a fire, call "101" immediately!
In the event of a fire near power lines or electrical equipment, you should also additionally notify the power engineers of JSC "Kharkivoblenergo" by calling the 24-hour call center: 057-34-24-413, 067-23-40-413, 063-05-40-413, 050-05-40-413 (Kharkiv city and Kharkiv region).
Persons guilty of violating fire safety requirements are subject to administrative and criminal liability if serious consequences are caused.
During the fire danger period it is prohibited to:
- making a fire in the forest;
- to smoke, to throw unextinguished matches and cigarette butts in the forest;
- entry of vehicles and other mechanisms into the forest fund territory (except for transit routes);
- leave rags, etc., covered with grease, soaked in gasoline, kerosene, oil or other flammable substances in places not intended for this purpose in the forest;
- refueling fuel tanks in the forest while the engine is running;
- burn grass and other plant debris;
- Dump and burn garbage, construction debris, household and combustible waste, etc. in forest plantations.
If you find yourself in the center of a fire:
- do not panic, leave the danger zone, which the flame is approaching, quickly, perpendicular to the direction of fire spread;
- If it is impossible to escape from the fire, go to an open area, enter a body of water, or cover yourself with wet clothing and breathe the air low above the ground - the air here is less smoky, while covering your mouth and nose with clothing or a piece of any fabric.
Fire fighting tips:
- You can extinguish small grassy fires by knocking down the flames with branches of deciduous trees, pouring water, covering them with wet soil, and stomping on them. Be careful in areas where tall trees are burning, as they may fall and injure you.;
- When extinguishing a fire, do not stray far from roads and clearings, do not lose sight of other participants in extinguishing the fire, and maintain communication with them by voice;
- Be especially careful in areas of peat fires, keep in mind that deep craters can form there, so move around, if possible, checking the depth of the burned layer with a stick;
- After leaving the fire area, notify the State Emergency Service of Ukraine and the local administration about the location, size, and nature of the fire.
Remember! Preventing a fire is much easier than extinguishing it!
