
Criminals send emails claiming to be checking the illegal activities of counterparties on behalf of the Kyiv State Tax Inspectorate branches. The scammers urge you to open a file attached to the email that is infected with malware.
To verify information if you receive such letters, contact the hotline State Tax Service of Ukraine by phone 0-800-501-007.
To protect yourself from attackers, cyber police advise you to follow basic protection strategies against computer viruses:
– Refrain from downloading files from untrusted sources and avoid clicking on suspicious links.
– Use and regularly update antivirus software. This will increase your chances of detecting malware.
– Update your operating system and software to the latest versions. This will help close potential vulnerabilities. Do not use programs of Russian origin due to their possible compromise by the special services of the aggressor country.
