On the roads of Chuguivskyi district since the beginning of the spring-summer period, 16 traffic accidents involving drivers of two-wheeled motor vehicles have occurred. These accidents could have been avoided if drivers of all vehicles without exception were more responsible and unconditionally followed the rules of the road. Therefore, the police give several tips, the observance of which will help owners of motorcycles, scooters and mopeds prevent serious injuries and disabilities.
First, the motorcyclist and his passenger must wear protective equipment: helmets, goggles, knee pads, elbow pads, gloves. Motorcycle boots or sturdy shoes are an additional chance to prevent serious leg injuries in the event of a dangerous fall.
Secondly, when setting off on a journey, one should weigh all the risk factors that a motorcyclist may face on the road: weather conditions, visibility on the road, condition of the road surface, complexity of traffic junctions, recommended speed limit on the highway, etc.
Thirdly, you should avoid risky maneuvers: do not exceed the speed limit, do not make sudden or unnecessarily risky overtaking, and do not give in to the temptation to arrange races on the highway with drivers of other vehicles. In conditions of limited visibility, you should drive with the headlights on, and if there is thick fog on the road, the police advise you to refuse to drive at all.
Fourth, do not drive a vehicle while intoxicated. Since the beginning of the month alone, officers of the response department of the patrol police of the Chuguiv RUP have detected 57 drunk drivers, 19 of whom were motor vehicle drivers. In total, 256 drunk drivers have been detected since the beginning of the year. Administrative cases have been filed against all of them under Article 130 of the Code of Administrative Offenses.
Law enforcement officers draw the attention of motor vehicle drivers to the need to be attentive and cautious on the road. And to remember that any recklessness or carelessness can have dire consequences, even if the situation does not seem to pose any threat at first glance.
