As noted by the head of the police headquarters, Volodymyr Tymoshko, despite the war in Ukraine, the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Kharkiv region continues to actively interact with territorial communities to create a safe environment and implement the priority project "Community Police Officer".
In February of this year, the Main Police Department has already signed Memorandums of Cooperation and Partnership for the implementation of the project with six more communities, three of which are de-occupied communities that had not previously participated in the project.
«"The communities themselves are primarily interested in implementing this project, because they receive police services 24/7. A community officer is a police officer who works and lives in the community, so he is ready to respond promptly to any challenges at any time. Community heads directly participate in the competition commission, so they will be able to choose the most worthy candidate from the candidates presented," said Volodymyr Tymoshko.
Currently, the "Community Police Officer" project has been implemented in 40 territorial communities of the Kharkiv region, where 108 positions of community police officers have been introduced. All of them have received modern service cars, equipped with everything necessary for work and providing assistance to local residents. Also, work premises have been allocated for law enforcement officers, office equipment, furniture, etc. have been purchased.
For reference: By the end of 2024, it is planned to implement the "Community Police Officer" project in 18 more districts for 29 police officer positions.
