Last week, there was a terrible increase in the number of fires in natural ecosystems. Despite numerous warnings from rescuers about the dangers of burning garbage and dry vegetation when tidying up their own households, the population continues to neglect safety measures, which often leads to fires in open areas.

Every day, firefighters eliminate dozens of fires in natural ecosystems. Thus, during the week, 237 fires broke out in open areas in the Kharkiv region, and since the beginning of the year - about 600. In a week, Kharkiv land lost about 130 hectares of vegetation, which serves as a home for numerous fauna.

The largest such fire occurred on March 13 on the outskirts of the village of Slobidske, Kharkiv district. Windy weather contributed to the rapid spread of the flame over an area of over 7 hectares. 10 pieces of equipment and 50 rescuers were sent to extinguish it and save the village. The difficulty of extinguishing it was due to the presence of strong gusts of wind, swampy terrain, and a large mass of dense dry vegetation and shrubs. The cause of the fire was the irresponsibility of people who themselves burn garbage and last year's deadwood. It took emergency workers more than 13 hours to cope with the fire and save human habitation.

The rescue service emphasizes strict adherence to fire safety rules! First of all, you should not burn dry grass and garbage in backyards, light open fires near outbuildings, and leave cigarette butts and matches on dry grassy ground.

Remember that burning dry wood can cause serious consequences, such as the destruction of the fertile soil layer, the death of animals, and the uncontrolled spread of fire!

The law stipulates a fine of up to UAH 153,000 for burning dry grass and leaves. Arson with serious consequences for nature can result in 5 years in prison!

За спалювання сухої трави та листя законом передбачений штраф до 153 тис. грн. За підпал з тяжкими наслідками для природи може загрожувати 5 років в'язниці!
