Last year, the Shelter and Non-Food Cluster provided assistance to more than 60,000 residents of the Kharkiv region. People were provided with sets of building materials to repair damaged housing, as well as firewood for the heating season. This year, the assistance is planned to be increased.
«"We are grateful for the attention to the needs of the residents of the Kharkiv region and the assistance provided by all international organizations. Through joint efforts, we must promptly eliminate the consequences of enemy strikes on the homes of our residents - this is what we must do in the first hours after the "arrivals". In addition, the evacuation of the civilian population from the Kupyan region is currently underway and we need to promptly restore places of compact location," said Oleg Synegubov.
In addition, the Cluster plans to open a hub in Kharkiv to strengthen its work.
«Currently, our organization has 4 hubs across Ukraine. Currently, «Eastern» is based in Dnipro, but in June we plan to launch another one in Kharkiv. We hope to strengthen cooperation with the regional administration and community leaders to effectively distribute resources and assist the civilian population,» added John Francis Wayne, Coordinator of the Shelter and Non-Food Items Cluster.
