In the Kharkiv region, almost 80 primary healthcare institutions provide mental health services

This was reported by the deputy head of the Kharkiv OVA, Olena Logvynova.

Про це повідомила заступниця начальника Харківської ОВА Олена Логвинова.

«"The impact of mental health on a person's physical condition cannot be underestimated. Especially during a full-scale war. Within the framework of the mental health program "You Are", initiated by First Lady Olena Zelenska, such psychological assistance can be provided by first-line medical workers. Thus, 75% doctors and medical workers of the Kharkiv region have been trained on the NHSU platform under the WHO mhGAP program. Also, 78 health care institutions in the region have been contracted under the package "Support and Treatment of Adults and Children with Mental Disorders". 313 doctors have been involved in providing such medical assistance," said Olena Logvynova.

The integration of mental health services into the primary health care system is an important component of the Ministry of Health's priority project within the framework of the All-Ukrainian Mental Health Program, added the Deputy Head of the HOVA.

A family doctor will in no way replace a family psychologist, psychotherapist, or psychiatrist, but he or she will be able to provide assistance to the patient and, if necessary, refer them to a specialized specialist, said Liliya Zotova, coordinator of the mental health program "How are you?" in the Kharkiv region.

«"Olena Zelenska's All-Ukrainian Mental Health Program is aimed at changing the attitude of Ukrainians towards their mental health. The mhGAP program allows family doctors to better navigate mental health issues and reach a larger population. This is a timely and accessible response to the increasing demand for psychosocial assistance for Ukrainians," noted Liliya Zotova.
