The team of the Cultural Forces of Ukraine Charitable Foundation presented the cultural and urban project "DEMONUMENT" in Chuhuiv, which will be implemented in the community this fall.
On the eve of the presentation, the Cultural Forces team conducted a study tour of the community. During the visit, the guests examined urban spaces and locations that have the potential for renewal, as well as discussed their historical, cultural and social context. The meeting participants visited central public spaces, areas near cultural institutions, memorial sites and other objects that can receive a new life within the project.
«"DEMONUMENT" is an art residence that combines contemporary art, tactical urbanism, and active participation of residents. Already in the fall, the Chuguiv community is waiting for the beginning of a large-scale joint work. The project team, together with representatives of the Chuguiv community, will determine approximately six spaces that will become platforms for future creative transformations. For three weeks, lectures, workshops, discussions, joint work of artists, and the creation of new art objects will take place in Chuguiv.
The project is designed to rethink urban spaces associated with the Soviet legacy and form new modern symbols that will reflect Ukrainian values and identity, as well as change the appearance of the urban environment and create comfortable spaces for communication, creativity, and leisure.
